[KB2727] How do I take a screenshot?

Solution

This article demonstrates how to take a screenshot which can then be attached to an email response to ESET Technical Support. Screenshots help our representatives meliorate understand your effect and expedite its resolution. To take a screenshot, click your operating system (below) and follow the step-by-step instructions:

Windows x

Take a screenshot using your keyboard
  1. Printing the Windows key + PrintScreen on your keyboard (or, PrtSc). Screenshots are automatically saved to Pictures/Screenshots in your user directory (C:/User south/%username%/Pictures/Screenshots by default).
  2. To access your screenshot, printing the Windows key + Due east to open an explorer window and browse to Pictures/Screenshots.

Have a screenshot using the Snipping Tool:

  1. Press Windows fundamental + Q to search for apps, type Snipping Tool into the Search bar then click Snipping Tool.

  1. Click New or select the blazon of screenshot (snip) you want to take using the drop-down menu (default is Rectangular Snip).

  1. Click and drag your cursor over the area you want to capture.
  2. The Snipping Tool editor will automatically open up. Click the diskette icon and select a relieve destination for your screenshot. Select a file type (we recommend .png for emails to ESET Technical support) and click Save.
  3. If necessary, attach your screenshot to an email response to ESET Technical Support.

Submit your screenshots in the correct format

Delight submit your screenshot in its original graphic class (.JPG, .BMP, .PNG etc.), as an zipper to your message.

DO NOT copy/paste your screenshot into the torso of your email to ESET Technical Support or submit using a PDF, Office Document or other non-graphic format. If you would like to open up a example with ESET Technical Back up, please submit a support request form.

Windows 8

Take a screenshot using your keyboard
  1. Press the Windows key + PrintScreen on your keyboard (or, PrtScr). Screenshots are automatically saved to My pictures/Screenshots in your user directory (C:/User s/%username%/My Pictures/Screenshots by default).
  2. To access your screenshot, press the Windows key + Eastward to open up an explorer window and browse to My pictures/Screenshots.

Take a screenshot using the Snipping Tool:

  1. Press Windows key + Q to search for apps, type Snipping Tool into the Search bar and so click Snipping Tool.

Take a screenshot using your keyboard

:

  1. Printing PrintScreen on your keyboard (or, PrtScr) to capture your entire screen. To capture only the agile window, press Alt + PrintScreen on your keyboard.
  1. Paste your screenshot into a program such as Microsoft Paint to save it: to open Microsoft Paint, click FirstAll ProgramsAccessoriesPaint.
  2. Select Paste from the Edit carte, or press Ctrl + V on your keyboard.
  3. Click File Save As... and select a save destination for your screenshot. Select a file type (we recommend .png for emails to ESET Technical Support) and click Salvage.
  4. If necessary, adhere your screenshot to an email response to ESET Technical Back up. Practice Not copy/paste your screenshot into the torso of your e-mail to ESET Technical Support.

  1. Press PrintScreen on your keyboard (or, PrtScr) to capture your unabridged screen. To capture a specific area of a given window, press Alt + PrintScreen on your keyboard.
  2. Paste your screenshot into a program such equally Microsoft Paint to save it: to open Microsoft Paint, click StartAll ProgramsAccessoriesPaint.
  3. Select Paste from the Edit menu, or press Ctrl + Five on your keyboard.

Have a screenshot using your keyboard

:

  1. Printing Command + Shift + 3 on your keyboard: This takes a screenshot of your entire screen including screens from multiple monitors and automatically saves the file to your desktop. The file volition exist named "Screen shot" followed by the date and time.
